Despite the cold rainy afternoon,  several professionals and educators attended the offline event. Snacks, wine and tea were offered at the venue to warm up our guests.

Sam Morgan covered on several topics from history of skills as currency, automation, skills framework to how Tuopu can help professionals be aware of new changes but not be intimidated by the rise of AI tools such as CHAT GPT, to the boundaries of content creation in education used in teaching students.

Sam shared on the relationship through the internet, how students now have more access to knowledge than before. AI is meant to augment human capabilities, not replace them. In education, AI can assist teachers in tasks such as grading, personalizing learning experiences, and providing feedback, freeing up time for educators to focus on more meaningful interactions with students.

AI has the potential to personalize learning experiences for students based on their individual needs, preferences, and learning styles. This can lead to more effective and engaging learning outcomes.Next he shared about QTS. QTS means Qualified Teacher Status. In the United Kingdom, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is the accreditation awarded to individuals who meet the standards set by the government for teaching in state schools. Regardless of the route taken, aspiring teachers must demonstrate that they meet the Teachers' Standards, which outline the professional attributes, knowledge, and skills required for effective teaching in location they chose to teach.

QTS (teacher license) is awarded by UK Teaching Regulation Agency. The Portfolio of Evidence is evaluated by the University of Sunderland within 3 months of application.

What is included:

  • Application: Assessment-only Route to Qualified Teacher Status

  • Programme: Personalised evaluation for the application

  • Legal Requirements: Itinerary and toolkit for evidencing

  • Teachers' Standard: Supported process for collating evidence, reflections and justifications to meet all standards

  • Partnership: Coordinated application for AoR to QTS with the ITT (i.e. partner university)

  • Recommendation: 12-weeks evaluation leading to recommendation for QTS

Several Questions were asked at the event:

  1. Do I need another QTS to teach  higher levels?

It depends,  but generally no need for another QTS. It depends on the organisation

  2. I have taught for a few years without a teaching certification, do I still need a QTS?

Yes, Tuopu International offers support in this area. Reach out to Sam Morgan for more information. Below you can see Tuopu offers a set of programs to deliver here in China.

Apart from QTS, Sam also shares on CPD. CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. It refers to the ongoing process of learning, skill development, and personal growth that professionals engage in throughout their careers to maintain and enhance their competence in their respective fields. CPD is essential for staying current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements, as well as for advancing one's career and improving job performance.
