QTS (teacher license) is awarded by UK Teaching Regulation Agency. The Portfolio of Evidence is evaluated by the University of Sunderland within 3 months of application.

  • Tuopu will assess your individual situation and make the best recommendation for you. Depending on your situation you might take the Diploma for a year or two, or not take the Diploma at all.

  • Yes, all schools recognise the UK QTS. In the United States, the QTS can be used for obtaining a provisional license in the State concerned. Conversion to local State license might be required with additional requirements, depending on the phase and the curriculum subject.

  • You do not need to renew the QTS. It does not expire.

  • Simple answer is yes. However, the essential requirement of providing the Portfolio of Evidence is not easy to be met. The Diploma not only provides you with a UK teaching certification, but it also gives you the opportunity to meticulously compile the PoE for a successful QTS evaluation.

  • Yes, the QTS is highly valued by international and bilingual schools. Even though the regulations for teaching the English language may only require a degree and TEFL/TESOL, QTS is highly recommended. For Chinese bilingual teachers, QTS puts them in a valued position, along with the Chinese teaching license. For foreigners, a career in education outside China will necessarily require QTS, no matter where you are from.

  • Yes. Obtaining the QTS means you meet the UK Teachers’ Standards, and you are entitled to be employed in maintained (government- funded) schools in England and Wales, and in Scotland.
